Zlatan Ibrahimovic broke LA Galaxy’s club record for goals in a season in their 7-2 victory over Sporting Kansas City on Sunday and netted a hat-trick.
The 37-year-old scored his 25th 24th and 26th goals of the campaign to help snap a four-match winless run.
Ibrahimovic scored his first goal following his penalty was saved before exceeding Carlos Ruiz goalscoring record.
Uriel Antuna, joe Corona plus a dual from Sebastian Lletget helped Galaxy.
Ibrahimovic has scored 48 goals in 51 matches at the MLS.
“I believe I’m the best ever to play in MLS. And that is without joking,” Ibrahimovic said.
“Scoring goals is easy, you only need to be like Zlatan and it’s forthcoming,” said the former Manchester United striker, who is just two goals behind leading scorer Carlos Vela.
“I strive to aid the team in the best manner and that is by accomplishing goals. I scored and make it a lot easier for everybody and I have to continue, that’s to score goals and I need to help my team in the way.
